WOTC

ROGY development pathway

The USTA-endorsed ROGY Program is a progressive tennis development pathway, represented by the colors Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow. These colors signify different ball types, each specifically designed for certain age groups and skill levels. A fundamental aspect of our programs is maintaining a low player-to-coach ratio of 5:1.

At WOTC, we are dedicated to providing the best developmental pathways for our players. The ROGY program is in line with our commitment to nurturing talent at all ages and skill levels, facilitating learning and growth throughout the player's journey.

Links to WOTC’s Summer and Winter ROGY season schedules can be at the bottom of this page.

At WOTC we tailor our tennis training to individual growth and ignite a passion for tennis in everyone—fueling a pathway toward competition.

Note: WOTC 12 month calendar is broken up into four sessions for our Junior Tennis Programs (ROGY):

Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer (Camp)

Breaking down WOTC’s ROGY Program

RED BALL (ages 4-7.5)

Focus: Introduction to basic tennis strokes, movement, and enjoyment of the game. Red tennis balls bounce lower and move more slowly through the air, giving beginning players a chance to set up and take a good swing at the ball. Court size for red ball is 36 feet and 18 feet wide, with the net that is 2-foot-by-nine feet long.

RED BALL PLUS
Focus: Advanced foundational techniques, longer rallies, and introduction to basic match play. *Evaluation required to enroll

YELLOW BALL (age 11.5 and up)

Focus: Comprehensive game development, advanced strategies, and preparation for high-level competitive play. The yellow ball is what most people know as traditional tennis—the sky is the limit.

YELLOW BALL PLUS
Focus: For players aiming for top-tier competitive tennis, with a strong emphasis on physical conditioning, advanced tactical play, and mental resilience. *Evaluation required to enroll

ORANGE BALL (age 7.5-10)

Focus: Refinement of basic strokes, introduction to spin, and basic game strategies on a 60-foot court. Orange ball is a step toward the green ball while still remaining fun and manageable for players learning the game.

ORANGE BALL PLUS
Focus: Advanced stroke techniques, more complex game strategies, and preparation for transitioning to the green ball.

*Evaluation required to enroll

*OB+ Players are recommended to participate in at minimum one tournament and one WOTC hosted ROGY match play per month

GREEN BALL (age 10-11.5)

Focus: Mastery of foundational techniques, introduction to advanced strokes, and play on a full-size court with a slightly reduced bounce ball. The Green ball is very similar to the traditional yellow tennis ball but with a slightly lower compression so it rebounds lower off the court after a bounce. Green ball is a step toward yellow ball.

GREEN BALL PLUS
Focus: Emphasis on advanced tactics, serve and return strategies, and preparation for competitive match play.

*Evaluation required to enroll

*GB+ Players are recommended to participate in at minimum one tournament and one WOTC hosted ROGY match play per month

Note: WOTC 12 month calendar is broken up into two seasons, summer and winter. The winter season includes Fall and Spring sessions.
